5th Annual “Giving Back 2 Give Thanks” Turkey Giveaway Takes Place This Sunday in Ypsilanti

YPSILANTI, Mich. — CLR Academy, alongside NFL running back Blake Corum, will host the 5th Annual “Giving Back 2 Give Thanks” Turkey Giveaway on Sunday, November 23, 2025. Presented in partnership with Washtenaw My Brother’s Keeper (WMBK), The Mighty Oak Project, Supreme Felons, Inc., and a wide network of community supporters, the event continues the Academy’s mission to uplift Ypsilanti families through compassion, service, and meaningful connection.
Now in its fifth year, the initiative has provided thousands of turkeys and essential items to local households. This year’s giveaway aims to expand its impact even further, reinforcing CLR Academy’s year-round commitment to community building. Rooted in its pillars of community, leadership, and revolution, the Academy uses the event not only to meet immediate needs but also to cultivate long-term trust and relationships with families across Ypsilanti.
CLR Academy supports youth throughout the year with free programming in basketball, soccer, and football, as well as literacy, wellness, and mentorship opportunities—ensuring young people have safe, empowering spaces to learn and grow.

Blake Corum first proposed the turkey giveaway after volunteering as a coach and working closely with youth at CLR Academy. Since then, he and the Academy have partnered each year to grow the initiative into a cornerstone community event.
“After leaving the University of Michigan, I made a commitment to keep supporting the community that supported me,” said Corum. “Each turkey drive is a reminder of the power of unity, generosity, and love. There’s nothing better than seeing our community come together for a great cause.”
