This free and open-to-the-community event brings together history, culture, youth empowerment, and meaningful connection in one powerful day.

(10:00 AM – 11:00 AM)

We begin the day in partnership with Washtenaw My Brother’s Keeper (WMBK) monthly male youth mentorship event, this includes:

  • Black History 101 Mobile Museum Tours

  • Free hot breakfast for those who pre-register on eventbrite

  • Make & Take Black History art station

  • Featured WMBK programming

CLR Cultural Youth Programming

(11:00 AM – 1:00 PM)

  • Icebreaker and Circle-Time 11-11:30AM

  • Interactive 20-minute workshop rotations beginning at 11:30 AM, featuring:

  • Black History 101 Mobile Museum Experience

  • Black History painting station with Curtis Wallace (Be Creative Arts Studio)

  • Interactive Congolese drum & dance mini workshops with Bichini Bia Congo

  • Financial Literacy (Jobs & Careers) workshop led by Cre of Bank of Ann Arbor

  • Free lunch for youth who pre-register

Spoken Word presented by The Urban Wordsmith Society 1:30pm

Screening of the Essence Film Festival selected film Living Proof, highlighting the Museum’s national impact 1:45pm

Storytime w/ Kallista Marie (Our Community Reads), featuring ABC’s of Black History 2:50pm

Hands-on youth activities centered on identity, leadership, and creative reflection 1:30-3:30

The History of CLR Academy presented by Justin Harper & Jamall Bufford 3:20pm

Snacks & refreshments available 1:30-3:30

This is more than an event — it is an opportunity to gather, learn, celebrate, and invest in the next generation of leaders.

The event is free and open to the public, but registration is strongly encouraged.
